Endorsements

  • The ministry which God has entrusted to me is known for engaging false doctrine and false teachers, but I have never witnessed anything so destructive that has been accepted so quickly and so uncritically by so many evangelicals as the Social Justice Movement. It has swept into the church like wildfire and has, to varying degrees, been promoted by voices that have long been trusted as theologically conservative stalwarts of truth.

  • Darrell and Virgil are the familiar voices on “Just Thinking”— the most popular and most influential long-form evangelical podcast in the world. They have a well-deserved reputation for careful analysis, bold clarity, biblical wisdom, and quotable phrasing.

  • So nice I had to read it twice! As expected, Darrell and Virgil pull no punches in “Just Thinking About the State.” It is convicting, biblical, and at times, uncomfortably uncompromising.

Description

Social justice debates have created confusion in many churches, especially as well-known evangelical voices have offered competing answers.

This book brings together Darrell Harrison and Virgil Walker who approach these questions from a shared conviction: Scripture is sufficient to guide the church in both doctrine and practice. Rather than relying on cultural trends or political slogans, the authors work through these topics using a biblical framework.

Each chapter addresses a specific area of cultural and civic concern, such as government, race, justice, economics, abortion, and the Christian’s role in public life, pressing readers to think carefully about how the Bible should shape public engagement. The focus on discernment and learning to apply God’s Word with clarity in a complicated cultural moment.

Their goal is simple: help Christians think more clearly, stand more firmly, and engage the world with a faith shaped by Scripture rather than by the shifting assumptions of the age.
