In 1996, Founders Ministries realized there were resources that would be profitable for pastors and churches that other publishers would not pursue. That year, Founders Press began.
The first resource we produced in 1996 was From the Protestant Reformation to the SBC by Tom Ascol. This booklet was written to show that the true roots of Baptists and the SBC flow from the Reformation. This work, in a slightly expanded format, is still in print today.
The second resource was released in 1997. It was built from a series of articles from Mark Dever and was called Nine Marks of a Healthy Church. After distributing thousands of copies and to remove some barriers within the SBC, Founders Press released the copyright. It was later expanded and used to help found 9 Marks ministry.
Over the next several years, Founders Press continued to publish resources that supported the mission of Founders Ministries. These resources include a number of titles that focused specifically on the SBC such as: A Foundation for the Future by Thomas Nettles (1997), A Quiet Revolution by Ernie Reisinger and D. Matthew Allen (2000), and Traditional Theology & the SBC by Tom Ascol (2012).
The Truth and Grace Memory Books, edited by Dr. Tom Ascol, were first published in 2000.
The series continued the work of introducing Baptists to their heritage by teaching two historic Baptist catechisms and one newly arranged Baptist version of the Heidelberg Catechism to families.
Over two decades, tens of thousands of copies of TAG books have been distributed.
In 2004, we published the first edition of Dear Timothy: Letters on Pastoral Ministry.
Written by a number of experienced pastors and edited by Tom Ascol, Dear Timothy has benefitted thousands of pastors over the last two decades.
In 2012, Stan Reeves published the first edition of The 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith in Modern English.
Since 2012, over one hundred thousand copies of the confession have been distributed and contributed to the widespread advance of the 1689 in modern churches.
Now, we have well over one hundred titles and address a wide variety of topics.
By God's grace, we have been serving pastors and churches by providing helpful resources for thirty years.
By His grace, we will continue that mission for the next thirty and beyond.
