Description

Crunjo, a scruffy hyena, lives in a barren desert of thorns, Sandstalkers, and endless struggle. Hungry and alone, he risks entering the forbidden forest—and discovers friends, sweet water, and the Stag King's promise that the woodland will never stop growing until it transforms everything.

Even when mistakes lead to trouble, the king's mercy shows Crunjo a new path of belonging, obedience, stewardship, and hope.

This charming illustrated story reminds young readers that no matter how dry or difficult the world seems, the good kingdom advances, one faithful step at a time.

Ian Smith

Ian Smith was raised by hippies who abandoned city life to live a pioneer-style existence in the remote wilderness on the United States’ northern border. In 1986, his family moved into a bus and joined a traveling tent revival ministry. He went on to write a book or two about these experiences.

Ian was homeschooled until college, where he earned a degree in Art & Design at Anderson University. He worked as a graphic designer and web developer for over twenty years until starting a custom product company in 2017.

He currently enjoys living in southern Indiana on a woodland homestead with his wife of 28 years. He has three children, two of whom are adults. He serves his church as an elder and is passionate about building and training young men to excel in their God-ordained duties at home and in society.

About the Illustrator

A black and white hand-drawn sketch of a cat on a plain white background.

Arwen Jessie

Arwen Jessie is the youngest of her family, raised in the middle of nowhere among the trees and hills of Indiana. (And no, she isn’t named after the character from Lord of the Rings.)

She has had a love for drawing for as long as she can remember, and she hopes to continue growing and refining her artistic abilities. She aims to capture the whimsy and beauty of God’s creation in every illustration.

When Arwen isn’t scribbling, you may find her playing violin, working on her homeschool, spending time with her family, or hanging out with her adorable orange cat, Teddy.
