Endorsements

  • Dr. Johnson leads us to concise and much needed direction that he emphatically and biblically addresses for the instruction of the young people in our homes and our churches. In this age of easy electronic access to any and everything one desires, biblical instruction leading to clear training from parents and pastors is essential to protecting our children and enabling their understanding of the truth that can be found only in God’s Holy Word.

  • Corey has carefully dusted off Keach’s theology of children, reintroduced it to the 21st century believer, and skillfully exegeted it into clear warnings and principles for both parents and children alike.

  • The first time I heard the content of the teaching of The Folly and Vanity of Youth, I thought the usefulness of these sermons demanded they be published in book format. But I must honestly say that the finished product has far exceeded my already high expectations.

Description

In a time when children are increasingly shaped more by screens than Scripture, this book calls parents and pastors back to the steady work of biblical instruction in the home and church. Drawing from the pastoral insights of Benjamin Keach and grounded in a Reformed understanding of sin and grace, Dr. Johnson presses readers to take the spiritual formation of children seriously from the earliest years.

Rather than minimizing the reality of sin in youth or defaulting to cultural assumptions about innocence and “later faith decisions,” this work urges a return to Scripture’s clarity and urgency. It challenges both complacency and confusion, encouraging consistent discipleship that holds together truth, patience, and gospel hope.

Designed for everyday use in the home and church, this book serves as both a theological guide and a practical call to action for those responsible for raising and teaching children in the faith.

Inside this book you will find:

  • A biblical theology of children and sin grounded in Scripture and Reformed thought
  • Guidance for parents on intentional, early spiritual instruction
  • Pastoral counsel for shepherding families in the local church
  • Reflections drawn from the writings of Benjamin Keach
  • Practical exhortations for persevering in gospel-centered parenting
