  • Charles Spurgeon said of John Bunyan, “Prick him anywhere—his blood is Bibline, the very essence of the Bible flows from him.” I can justly say, “Prick Orrick anywhere; his blood is bibline.” Bible verses—fitly chosen for glorious subjects—flow from the pen of the author abundantly, naturally, and fittingly as he gives exposition to the economic answers that constitute the Baptist Catechism.

Description

Finally a commentary on The Baptist Catechism from a Baptist!

This work is a clear and engaging exposition of The Baptist Catechism, opening up one of Baptist’s most enduring tools for doctrinal instruction. Rooted in the historic Westminster Shorter Catechism and refined in the late seventeenth century for Baptist churches, the Catechism provides a concise summary of the Christian faith.

Drawing on decades of teaching and discipleship, Orrick explains each question and answer with clarity, warmth, and careful attention to Scripture. His illustrations and applications help bridge the gap between historic doctrine and present-day Christian life, making complex truths accessible without diminishing their depth.

This commentary is especially useful for churches seeking to ground believers in the essentials of the faith. It has proven value in family worship, Sunday School, small group study, and pastoral training, and reflects Orrick’s long experience mentoring students preparing for ministry.

For anyone wanting a deeper grasp of what Baptists believe about God and the duty He requires of us, this resource provides a steady, trustworthy guide into the heart of biblical doctrine.

Inside this book, readers will find:

  • A complete, phrase-by-phrase exposition of The Baptist Catechism
  • Clear biblical support for each doctrinal statement
  • Illustrations drawn from teaching and pastoral ministry
  • A practical help for family worship and church discipleship
  • Guidance for training new believers and ministry students
